stephland is a crazy place to be at the moment. i’m not even gonna go into my feelings on the $700 BEEEELLION dollar bank bailout the government’s trying to push through as quickly and with as little outside review as possible, but suffice to say it’s giving me the same gut-wrenching, vomit-inducing unease that i got when they were pushing through the okay to go to war with iraq.

january 21 will not get here soon enough…and in the meantime, i’ll be curled up in the corner weeping softly.

once upon a time, i had a dilemma. a great dilemma it was, too, and one that seemed to be doomed to never be resolved.

then, out of the blue, came this wonderful, shining, BRILLIANT person named christina. in one fell swoop (and two sentences), she identified herself as a fellow fan of the song, and, most importantly, identified the band: THE DEL GRIFFITHS. i mean, you have no idea…it was like someone just left the answer to the universe in my blog. such awesome wonderful brilliant fantastical fabulousness…in five little words, this wonderful person answered a question that i’d given up hope ever knowing. i’m still deciding if i wanna go ahead and just re-purchase the cd (because hey, it’s only $3 or so and it’s seriously one of my favorite cd’s ever), or if i should hit up my sisters with a list (including this cd and all my old lu) and hope they’ve lost interest in the music…

but back to christina. wonderful, brilliant, awesome christina. she didn’t leave any sort of contact info, so i wasn’t able to email her my praise and admiration (and compliment her taste in music). SO, christina, if you’re ever in this corner of the net again, know that i think you’re a fabulously awesome person. THANK YOU!!!

there is much going on in stephland. much job happiness, much plannings for visits to family, upcoming weddings, puppet shows, poetry jams, banned book celebrations…it’s been one thing after another, and i’m loving every second of it.

and i’ve neglected not only my blog, but yours. i do love you, i do want to know what’s going on in your world, and i will try to come ’round for a visit in the near future. but sometimes, one needs to kick back with a glass of lemonade and some elvis. tonight is that time for me. with ben happily sproring away upstairs, i am left with my delicious drink, the “retroactive” music station on the cable (they’re playing the cure now), and the latest volume of my favorite manga.

(i am such a fan girl…in my game, i named the hero atsushi koizumi. don’t laugh, michelle…)

(ooh, now it’s depeche mode…)

(okay, back to my regularly scheduled manga-reading, drink-sipping, and general unplugging. g’night. )
