oh, l’amour… 25 November, 2008

bet you thought this was gonna be a post about ben. sorry to disappoint…while the curly-haired one is indeed the love of my life, he is not the l’amour the title indicates. rather, i’m in one of those moods where i need some erasure. it happens sometimes. this, on the heels of a whole weekend spent desperately trying to figure out which family member might’ve swiped my p.m. dawn cds. i’m pretty sure tabitha has them…

i think i’ma go make a mix cd.

(i also haven’t seen my abba-esque cd in a few years, but i don’t think tabitha would take that one…)

dream catcher, dream catcher, catch me a dream… 25 November, 2008

I dream of a day when poverty is only something our kids learn about in school, and not something they have to face every day.

from crazy rad to just plain crazy… 24 November, 2008

this weekend started out fantastically enough. we headed out to the mountains, saw a wonderful concert with wonderful friends, reconnected with another old friend, spent plenty of quality time with my family, and had delicious burritos for dinner on the way home last night. then, when we got home, there were angry kitties (since we’d stayed an extra night with the mama and the papa but didn’t tell them and didn’t give them enough food for 4 days), piles of laundry that i decided could “wait til we get back,” and a little postcard from the dmv saying our license plates have been revoked because certain slacker insurance agents didn’t send them proof that we were covered before a random date in september.

i wish i knew some yiddish curse words. but today’s gonna be busy, so i should work on being more productive…

what a day for a daydream… 14 November, 2008

wooooow…what a lazy day. it’s chilly, it’s overcast, it’s misty/rainy, and i’m bumming around in my pajamas, fighting the urge to take a nap. i should finish loading the dishwasher, and maybe put away all the laundry i washed yesterday, but…meh. i have a snoring heffer beside me, and her snooziness is contagious.

but hey, know what? i have SUCH a crush on rachel maddow.

yeah, i’m snoozy. i think a noontime nap is in order. :D

nano-uhoh… 7 November, 2008

Filed under: confessionals, general chatter — freundlyfolk @ 11:50 am

for the past 2 novembers, i’ve taken part in nanowrimo, or national novel writing month. and for the past 2 novembers, i’ve started novels that i never got around to finishing. to give you an idea of how sad this fact is, you should know that for the past 2 novembers, i’ve had plenty of free time…november 2006 i was unemployed, and november 2007 saw me working 12 hours a week as a page at the library.

so this year, i’m not even gonna bother with it. i already have more than enough incomplete novels with my name on them, and besides, the final months of 2008 have been and will continue to be redonkulously busy for yours truly. not even taking into consideration all the social goings-on, there’s also all of the work-type things i have to do, like finding creative ways to advertise the poetry workshop i’ll be teaching next year, and hosting our library’s participation in national gaming day, and hosting this month’s meeting of the sci-fi book club, and writing an article about the graphic novels of marjane satrapi for wcpl’s graphic novel newsletter, and…and…

yeah. sorry, nanowrimo. you are relegated to the proverbial back burner this year. maybe next year…
